Happy heavenly Birthday Papa Rich

Today would have been Papa Richard’s 86 birthday. Sometimes I forget how young my kids were when Papa got his wings. My son, who was 2 at the time, remembers his grandpa grabbing his toes and calling them piggies. We recently watched our wedding video and the kids heard Papa Richard’s voice and their eyes brightened up. Again, I had forgotten that they were babies and don’t remember his voice. I miss our week night dinners and conversations after work when I’d pick up the kids. Happy Birthday Papa Rich! Jonah is starting High School ⚾️!

Grief

Homie’s kids

I am lucky to have a group of friends, who grew up, got married and had kids. Our kids have had the privilege of growing up together. Some closer than others but you always remember the first babies of the bunch. I remember photo shoots of Naiomi, Jaden, Malia, and Jenna. All born around the same time. Recently I did a zoom business call with Jenna and couldn’t believe how mature and old she was. I had her frozen in time as a baby. But when my husband called me to say that one of these “babies” passed away… Heartbreak. 💔 I can’t imagine what Michelle and Johnnie are feeling, and my heart is heavy over losing Naiomi. 😔 We really never know when God wants us home and it’s really up to us to have faith in God’s timing. Rest In Peace Naiomi. We will never forget you!

Movie date with Jordan

Pitch Perfect 3

Happy Friday!!! Today we are having a movie date with our babygirl (always) Jordan. Her choice…pitch perfect 3. We already watched pitch perfect 1 and pitch perfect 2 last week but couldn’t find our pitch perfect 3 blue ray 😒. Jordan had target gift card so we got the trilogy since our old disks were bad!!! Thankful for this family time and yes, I still got my Christmas tree up in March. It brings me joy just like family time does!!! #pitchperfect #family

Life with a high school baseball player

Life with muddy, dirty, grass stained baseball pants that end up tight mid season. “Mom, my pants are tight.” When I played softball, I lived in Mobile, Alabama where the infields were made of clay. I remember showering after practices and games, seeing red clay melting off of my skin and down the drain as I soaped and showered. Now, when I look at my kids’ bathtub, I see the brown dirt that my son brings home after tough wins, losses and practices. I trip over turf shoes, bat bags that sit in hallways….and yes, a tee that he brought out to a neighborhood field to get some reps with a friend. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. #highschoolbaseball #freshman #baseball

Heartbroken

On Monday, at the end of my work day, I learned that a tragic accident took the life of a sweet soul. I was heartbroken and couldn’t imagine the feelings my friends were feeling after losing their sweet 18 year old daughter. We don’t know why these terrible things happen, but I rely on prayer to get through this heart ache. May you Rest In Peace Naiomi….may perpetual light shine upon you
